If you have a newer model with ignition and keyless entry it is possible to skip the steps for programming the additional keys and go straight to step 3. Hold the unlock button on your working keyfob against the lock markings within the steering wheel. Press and hold the unlock button, then move the key fob to the position 1, and then back to position 1 in quick sequence, five times in succession. Press the ignition button a second time to click here verify that the key has been programmed.

Keyless Entry
BMW Digital Key allows you to unlock your vehicle with your smartphone. Simply hold your smartphone up to the door handle and it will open immediately. The Digital Key communicates with the vehicle via near-field communications, so there is no need for an app open or be connected to the internet. You can share your access to your car with your friends by sending them a text message. This works even if you use an additional smartphone or iPhone or an Android device.
Intelligent Parking Assistant
This feature is available on certain BMW models. It will guide you through the steps required to navigate through an obstacle course or park in a tight spot using your BMW Display Key. The system can also recognize the various parking maneuvers, including entering/exiting two-story garages as well as traversing inclines and slopes.
Parallel parking is also supported by the system, and can be done even when your vehicle is moving. The system will also check for obstacles in the vicinity prior to starting and will issue an alert sound if you're too close to another vehicle or object.

Key Fob Battery Replacement
As with any remote key, it's important to keep the battery of your key fob fully charged to ensure you aren't unable to access your car.
